Keyboard Shortcuts

The Gantt chart supports comprehensive keyboard navigation for efficient task management without using the mouse.

General Shortcuts

These shortcuts work anywhere in the Gantt chart:

Ctrl + RRedo last undone change

Scrolling

Navigate the timeline and task list:

Alt + LeftScroll timeline left (backward in time)
Alt + RightScroll timeline right (forward in time)
Alt + UpScroll task list up
Alt + DownScroll task list down

Task Navigation

Move between tasks in the list:

Page DownJump to last task in the list

Cell Navigation Mode

When cell navigation is enabled, you can also move between columns:

Task Actions

Perform actions on the selected task:

Expand and Collapse

Control the visibility of subtasks:

Task Hierarchy

Change the indentation level of tasks:

Shift + RightIndent task (make it a child of the previous task)
Shift + LeftOutdent task (move it up one level in hierarchy)

How Indent Works

When you press Shift + Right:

  1. The task becomes a child of the task directly above it
  2. The parent task automatically expands
  3. The task is moved to the end of the parent's children

How Outdent Works

When you press Shift + Left:

  1. The task moves to the same level as its current parent
  2. It's positioned directly after its former parent
  3. Any siblings below it remain under the original parent

Header Navigation

When focused on the column headers:

Keyboard Navigation Tips

Getting Started

  1. Click anywhere in the Gantt chart to give it focus
  2. Use Up/Down arrows to move between tasks
  3. Press Enter to edit the selected task

Efficient Workflows

Quick task editing:

  1. Navigate to task with Up/Down
  2. Press Enter to open edit form
  3. Make changes
  4. Press Enter to save or Escape to cancel

Reorganizing tasks:

  1. Navigate to the task you want to move
  2. Use Shift + Left/Right to change hierarchy
  3. The task repositions automatically

Expanding all children:

  1. Navigate to a parent task
  2. Press Ctrl + Right to expand
  3. Repeat for nested children

Selection Workflow

Select multiple tasks:

  1. Navigate to first task
  2. Press Space to select
  3. Navigate to next task
  4. Press Space to add to selection
  5. Repeat as needed
