Change Orders

Change orders track approved modifications to the original project scope and contract.

What is a Change Order?

A change order is a formal document that modifies:

  • The scope of work
  • The project timeline
  • The contract price

Change orders ensure all parties agree to modifications and maintain accurate project financials.

When to Use Change Orders

Create a change order when:

  • Customer requests additional work
  • Unforeseen conditions require scope changes
  • Design modifications affect pricing
  • Timeline adjustments are needed

Change Order Types

Accessing Change Orders

From a project:

  1. Click Financials in the navigation
  2. Select Change Orders

Or use Quick Actions:

  • Click Create Change Order (sold projects only)

Change Order Status

Track change orders through approval workflow:

Financial Impact

Approved change orders:

  • Update the total contract value
  • Create separate line items for tracking
  • Appear in financial reports
  • May trigger additional invoicing
