Gantt Chart

The Gantt chart provides professional project planning with visual timelines, task dependencies, and progress tracking.

Overview

The Gantt chart displays:

  • Task list on the left with details
  • Timeline bars showing task duration
  • Dependency lines connecting related tasks
  • Progress indicators within task bars
  • "Now" marker showing the current date

Accessing the Gantt Chart

  1. Navigate to your project
  2. Click Schedule in the project navigation
  3. Select the Gantt tab

Understanding the Interface

Left Panel (Task List)

The left side shows task details in columns:

  • Task name
  • Start date
  • End date
  • Duration
  • Additional columns (WBS, Predecessor, Owner, Sub)

Right Panel (Timeline)

The right side displays:

  • Horizontal bars representing task duration
  • Dependency lines between tasks
  • A vertical "Now" line showing today's date
  • Progress fill within task bars

Selecting a Schedule

Projects can have multiple schedules. Use the schedule dropdown to choose:

The "Full-schedule" combined view is read-only. Select an individual schedule to make edits.

Display Options

Zoom Levels

Change the timeline scale using the zoom controls:

Column Visibility

Toggle columns using the column menu button:

Task Colors

Tasks can be color-coded:

  • Colors are set per task or inherited from templates
  • Edit a task to change its color
  • Helps visually organize different types of work

Toolbar Features

Undo/Redo

Use the toolbar buttons to:

  • Undo: Reverse the last change
  • Redo: Reapply an undone change

The undo/redo history persists during your editing session.

Change Log

View the history of all modifications:

  1. Click Change Log in the toolbar
  2. See who made changes, what changed, and when
  3. Useful for tracking schedule updates

Fullscreen Mode

For an expanded editing experience:

  1. Click the Fullscreen button
  2. The Gantt chart fills the screen
  3. Additional zoom controls available
  4. Press Escape or click Exit to return

PDF Export

Generate a PDF of the schedule:

  1. Click the PDF button
  2. The current Gantt view exports
  3. Useful for printing, meetings, or documentation

Business Day Calculations

The Gantt chart respects business days:

DependenciesCalculate correctly across holidays

Configure holidays in Admin > Calendar > Holidays.

Client Portal Visibility

Making Schedules Visible to Customers

  1. Edit the schedule settings
  2. Enable Client Viewable
  3. Tasks appear in the customer portal as a read-only Gantt

Share with customers:

  • Major project phases
  • Key milestones and deadlines
  • Inspection dates
  • Customer decision points

Keep internal:

  • Detailed sub-tasks
  • Resource allocation details
  • Cost-related items
  • Internal deadlines
